I’m up here for a month and a LOT has changed since I lived here in high school! So I need some advice, what’s the nightlife like for 21+ here, bars etc? (Definitely not seeking city level partying I have enough of that in San Diego) Are things only really active on weekends?
EDIT: Thanks everyone! I think I’ll hit up Murray’s tonight!
Responses below:
Murrays & big bear bar/grill are the spots…. At least for my 20-30’s crew.
Wiskey Dave’s - that’s it -
I stopped going after my favorite bartender passed away
The Brewery has open mic on Wednesdays.
Big bear barn n grill , Karaoke Tuesday n open mic Wednesday
Not much goes on. Murray's is a Good time.
Food drink karaoke.
Murray’s.
Wyatt has square dancing..
Village sports bar (used to be the cave) and Murrys, whiskey daves....if you go to AV be careful, drinks get spiked there
I had a good time at whiskey Dave’s this past weekend
Murray’s has karaoke almost every night. You’d have to ask which days are dark. Amazing, affordable food and low key atmosphere keeps us coming back every time we are up the mountain. The calamari, ahi salad and pastrami sandwiches are a few of our favorites.
Sandy’s is open again! Totally updated and under new ownership!
Murray’s is always fun.
I’ve been here 2 months from San Diego. So far my go to’s are Murray’s and Kallan’s. Both nice dives any day of the week n both have fun karaoke depending on the night! Been to Whiskey Dave’s a couple times too. Good for a laugh n dancing Saturday was still fun.
Nothing like San Diego that’s for sure. Weekdays things are closed by 9ish.
Murray’s is my favorite.
AV is the one club in town, otherwise there are bars open until 11 or 12. Murray’s is great for karaoke and I’ve heard Big Bear Bar n Grill does love music. During the winter season - and especially closer to the holidays - things pick up during the week but Thurs - Sat are you best bets for notable activity in town.
Very quiet compared to OC. I used to go to Swallows Inn Thurs and Fri nights before I moved up here. Wyatt’s is a big disappointment if you want to meet someone new.
Boring af
I drive down the mountain for any nightlife fun (concerts, clubs, mall, arcade) Besides bars with small bands there’s not much to do up here after dark sadly
Dan Diego is the best
Kallan's Bar And Grill Sugar Loaf is always a good time.
When it comes to night life it’s still a small town vibe, just without the bargains.
No real venue for bands, but there’s plenty of karaoke, pool, and places to try to do shots off a ski with a group of friends and spill it all over yourself. There’s also terribly overpriced bar food everywhere… except Murray’s and Kallan’s (the preferred watering holes for locals). A lot of folks like to go line dancing at Wyatt’s. Big Bear Bar and Grill supports a lot of local music. Haven’t stopped by the hostel yet but it seems to be picking up momentum with shows and open mics.
The bowling alley is surprisingly fun and lively. Movie theater is always a classic. It’s pretty much dive city until the weekend. Haven’t tried any of the tourist traps like axe throwing or escape rooms.
If you’re looking to party get hooked up with some of the people living in the employee housing for the resort. Especially the international housing.
Come Christmas everything will be active nightly.
Bar Murrays we have met the most amazing people and the Karoke is so much fun!
Everything I’ve read has the locals liking to go much more, during the week. But obviously, in high snow season, you’ll have a mix during the week, as well.
Friday and Saturdays are the most fun, but I'm never disappointed no matter what day I go.
